Plum, Cream and Linen Custom Wedding Invitation Suite

It is a gorgeous summer day and a few days ago I was sitting on a ferry from Vancouver to Victoria and FINALLY had some time to actually write a few blog posts.. We were heading to Hornby Island to go camping! It was a few days with just Lane and I, don’t get me wrong I love my kids but I also love sleep and spending time with husband ALONE.

This summer I’ve been working with events based companies, weddings, catering, etc, and we’ve had to a do a lot of adapting to the current health crisis affecting our world. I can’t say enough about these clients who have been innovative and creative during this season. I am so impressed and I love being a part of problem solving. Last summer a friend of mine who works in the wedding industry approached me and asked if I could adapt wedding invitations to blend both physical invitations or digital. She mentioned to me that on the market there was a lot of either or but not a blend. Many couples want to be able to send formal physical invitations to close family members but want to send digital invites to friends. The problem often came in that there was no platform on the market to send physical and digital invitations in the same design style. They were having to pay for physical invite design AND digital design (as well as platform costs ie: paperless post, etc). This option was supposed to be cost effective but was becoming very similar to having physical invites printed. I knew I could do better. And this became the first time I did some research to develop a custom package for these client. I looked at different digital mail delivery platforms and how to allow guests to RSVP without setting up a custom wedding website or an email send back, etc. Tessa and Josh were the first clients that decided to move forward with this package.

Together Tessa and I developed a custom mood board that really laid the foundation for her entire wedding. We went with a warm maroon colour for the envelopes, cream chiffon ribbon and custom gold seals. We also offered guests that received a physical invitation to mail back their RSVP card in a provided addressed envelope. The suite turned out stunning!

I then took the physical design of the invitation and adapted it to an HTML email. I still wanted it to feel elegant even though it was being delivered to an inbox. I wanted it to stand out when guests were looking through their inbox. It was important for me that the first emotion was excitement. I did this by adding custom details and simplicity to RSVP. There were links to easily RSVP and a link to visit their wedding website so guests could read their story, find more details and grow in excitement for this couple. For me I knew that many guests that received the physical invitation probably wouldn’t check out the website until closer to the wedding date to find extra details, but I knew that those receiving a digital invite would likely head over to their website right away and so making it easily accessible was very important to me.

Both of these designs turned out stunning. They both communicated the important details and created joy for the recipients. In my opinion this package is perfect for any couple that is planning to have over 50 guests. It’s cost effective, style focused and incredibly unique. If you have any questions about this package please reach out.
